Amla Mehta, a Motivational speaker & teacher, was born & raised in the US. Although Amla grew-up deeply tied with Eastern roots connected to the Hindu religion, her main belief system, is faith itself. She considers herself highly more spiritual, than religious. Amla believes that true faith is the key component of being the complete essence of unconditional love that every individual shares as pieces of divinity. Thus, maintaining hope and faith keeps ones’ spirit alive!
The climax point of Amla’s life was Feb. 14, 1990. At the age of 16, she was diagnosed with a rare eye condition, called, Gyrate Atrophy. Gyrate Atrophy, known as GA, is a genetic eye disorder in which the patient gradually loses his or her periphery vision and blindness occurs later in life. (During the mid 40s to late 50s) Only 200 people are diagnosed in the world. Despite the daily challenge of being legally blind, Amla has a deeper sense of insight. (physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally) To this day, Amla feels that Gyrate Atrophy is her spiritual & motivational teacher. Therefore, she desires to inspire others & share her spiritual journey with all walks of life.
Amla’s hands-on training of higher consciousness, insight & intuition ignited at a 10-day silent retreat at the “Vipassana” mediation center, taught worldwide. For more details, www.dhamma.org. “Vi” means “in,” “Passana” means, “sight.” Hence, the word Vipassana, is defined as “Insight.” Due to the experience of Vipassana meditation, Amla has developed her own strong, authentic self. The main objective she encountered and practiced at the Vipassana center, was the notion of accepting herself, people, & all external forces, just “as is.” For example, whether, if it’s a bright, sunny day or if it’s a rainy day, one must embrace it, “as it is,” no stories, changes, or judgments. It’s the Law of Divine Nature! Therefore, when one fully accepts themselves physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, “as is,” pure love transcends naturally and effortlessly, like water flowing down a stream, after a fresh Summer rain.
“The heart never lies, therefore, the spirit never dies.!” –Amla Mehta
